Santubong & Sejinjang; an alternate story, by toshi
Once, there were two princesses who were cousins. They conquered perfection, with them being unbeaten in every single category ever imagined. They had beauty, grace, talent and were loved by their people. One was named Santubong; who lived in a small village called Pantai Biru. The latter referred to as Sejinjang, settled in Pasir Kuning. Both of them were inseparable, albeit living in two villages with considerable distance between them, they still managed to make time to meet each other. The villages and deities lived in peace for a long time, due to the closeness of their guardian princesses. That is until fate changed with the arrival of a certain person.
Serapi. That was the name of the disaster which fell upon the two lovely ladies. A prince, he was. With dashing looks enough to enchant every person, if they’d ever lay eyes on him. The charm he displayed was enough to turn every man in envy, at the same time, admiration for not just his good looks, but also the way he carried himself. However, that was only on the surface. The man was sneaky, manipulative and a sweet talker. He wanted to woo the two as he was indecisive, greedy, which raged Santubong, the more perceptive of the two.
How could a singular prince dare pit them up against each other? They were more than that! But that was only what Santubong thought, Sejinjang on the other hand fell helplessly in love with the man. “We only have each other, how could you betray me for that pathetic excuse of a being?!” Santubong was having an outburst of anger to her cousin, for the first time ever! But Sejinjang tried to defend the man’s actions. ‘Why is she like this?’ Santubong thought. Had this been the work of dark magic the man is capable of? Thoughts ran wild in her head that she lost her rationale and went in to end her cousin’s life.
What ever did happen right after the incident? Putera Serapi was nowhere to be found, we wondered why? Puteri Sejinjang and Santubong got involved in a huge quarrel. And so, each of them got hurt, one was stabbed the other was hit across the cheek and was left a dent. Facing the wrath from the Elysium, the deities were cursed. Sejinjang was found to be in pieces and became an island as Santubong solidified and turned into a mountain. The truth to Sejinjang’s limbs and trunks mutilated was due to Santubong’s rage where she’d cut the other to keep her to herself. For she couldn’t bear it. She could never let any other have her.
